BPA Free Products!!!

While researching their own products to ensure whether or not they contain BPA, BabyCrazy came actoss a great resource they thought they should pass along to our readers.

If you don’t know about BPA, it stands for “bisephenol A”, a chemical found in hard plastics, including baby bottles, Nalgene bottles, and the lining of canned baby formulas. When heated, BPA from the plastics can leak into the liquid. The scientific community is still debating the effects of BPA when ingested, but some advocates of banning BPA believe that the estrogen-like compound can harm infants’ brains and reproductive organs. The FDA does not believe that the levels of BPA that leak into infant and children’s foods are high enough to cause a problem.

Canada has already banned BPA in all children’s products, and there have been legislative movements in the US and various states to ban the substance as well.

Is BPA harmful to infants? The jury is still out, but why take any chances? The problem is that, in shopping for children’s products, BPA would not be listed as being contained in the product. There’s lots of confusion  about how to find BPA-free products in the marketplace.

Well, ZRecs to the rescue! This great tool is not only comprehensive and informative, but it is easy to use when out shopping. If you want to determine whether or not a particular brand of products contain BPA, simply text “zrecs” plus the brand name to 69866. You’ll receive a text back with the BPA status of the products by that company. Easy! (By the way, check out zrec’s comprehensive report on BPA at zrecs.blogspot.com.

TIP: If you are a nursing mom, the Slim Line Milk Trays from BabyCrazy make storing breast milk so much easier, plus they are phtlate and BPA  free!!!
