A popular technique often used with young children is that of giving choices. Would you like green beans or corn? Would you like to wear the red shirt of the white shirt today? But, an important developmental skill for children involves thinking and planning by being able to choose from multiple options, instead of just two.
For example, maybe you have planned a special project for your child to decorate for an upcoming holiday. Engage your child in planning for the event by asking questions such as; What kinds of decorations can we make? What do we need to make these decorations? Where will be put them, and who will help us work on them?
Including your child when possible in these types of decision-making activities can expand vocabulary, planning and memory skills. Have fun making those decorations!!!

Surfing the web today, I read about a way to earn a free subscription to Parenting magazine by watching Johnson’s baby ads on AdPerk.com. As a newly expectant mom I am finding myself drawn to all things baby right now (especially if they are free), so I decided to give it a shot.
All in all, it took me about 20 minutes to watch all the ads. After each ad, you have 30 seconds to enter the code on the screen to confirm that you watched the ad. Then, for each ad viewed you earn credits for your subscription. After you earn 12 credits, you simply fill out a form with your mailing address. There are no survey questions to answer and some of the videos were actually pretty cute.
After I completed the entire process I received a confirmation email which said I should expect to begin receiving my 12-month subscription around September 8th. It was definately 20 minutes well spent if I get it as promised!

BabyCrazy would like to remind everyone….
Every year, we hear awful stories of children who were left in a hot car during the
summer, resulting in severe illness and even death. Sadly, all of these tragedies were
100 percent preventable. Carol Ball, with Children’s Health Care of Atlanta and SAFE KIDS of Georgia, advises parents to avoid such a tragedy by remembering a few simple rules:
- Temperatures inside a car rise at alarming rates during the summer, even when it is only moderately warm outside.
- Never leave a child in an unattended car for any amount of time, even with the windows rolled down.
- Double-check that all children exit the vehicle when you reach your destination. Take special care to ensure that sleeping infants are not overlooked.
- Prior to restraining your child, check the temperature of the child safety seat surface and seat belt buckles to avoid unintentional burns or discomfort.
